Troubleshooting Tag Import Errors in Compact Logix PLC with Keyence Barcode Scanner

Question:

Good morning! I am currently working with a Compact Logix 1769-L27ERM-QBFC1B PLC using Studio Logix version 30.11. I'm trying to import tags from my Keyence Barcode Scanner into my program but keep encountering errors for each tag (please refer to the image below for details). I'm unsure what might be causing these issues. I've uploaded the tag file for your review at this link: https://files.fm/u/dte4zz9anamed, titled "SR-tags.csv." I noticed that the version number appears to be slightly different, but since it's in the remarks section, it shouldn't impact the upload process, correct? If you have any insights or solutions regarding this tag import challenge, I would greatly appreciate your assistance!

Hello! It seems you are attempting to designate a tag as 'SR:I', which may not be possible. What you are likely trying to import is a data structure specifically designed for a barcode module. To resolve this, I recommend adding your barcode interface module as a generic module named 'SR'. Make sure to configure it according to the manual, and it will generate the appropriate data structure for you.

Thank you for your response! I reached out to Keyence, and they informed me that I was using an outdated CSV file. Although the new file appeared to be identical, importing it resolved the issue. I'm puzzled about the discrepancies between these two CSV files since they seem so similar. I have uploaded the updated CSV file that successfully worked for me; you can find it at this link. I appreciate your assistance! [Link to file](https://files.fm/u/jdwqgd4k)

Good morning! It sounds like you're running into some frustrating tag import issues. One common culprit could be the format of your CSV file; sometimes, even minor discrepancies like extra spaces or incorrect delimiters can cause errors. I’d double-check the structure of your CSV against the requirements for your PLC version, just to ensure everything aligns. Also, verify that the tags defined in your CSV do not exceed the limits or naming conventions set by the Compact Logix. If you haven’t already, trying to import a simple CSV with just a couple of tags might help you pinpoint the problem. Good luck, and I hope you find a solution soon!
