Hello everyone, I am facing a challenge in connecting a Siemens WinCC SCADA system to a new S7-1200 PLC for a machine. Previously, I successfully connected another 1200 and a 1500 to the system without any issues. However, in this case, I am unable to read any tags for some unknown reason. When I "Activate" the SCADA, the connection appears active with a green checkmark on the tag management page, indicating communication with the PLC. I attempted to read the AS symbols, which was successful, but the symbols retrieved were not from the datablock I need to access. The 1200 PLC in the new machine from Germany is password protected, and they have provided me a list of accessible datablock information. I have the commissioning engineer on-site, but he lacks software expertise. He is willing to contact Germany for assistance, but I would like to troubleshoot a few things first. Could access protection on the datablocks or block optimization be causing the issue? Any suggestions would be appreciated so that the software expert can address multiple potential issues at once. Thank you.
Are you able to extract data from markers? The most efficient method for integrating with a SCADA system is by establishing an interface database. A programmer can transfer data from a secure database to your SCADA interface database. It is crucial for this database to be unsecured and easily accessible for optimal performance.
Are you utilizing the latest version of WinCC? In WinCC 7.2, the S7-1200/1500 channel restricts access to absolute addressing such as DB1, W0. To access datablocks, they must be designated as "not optimized" in the PLC program. However, starting from WinCC 7.3, full symbolic access is permitted to both optimized and non-optimized datablocks. It is essential to configure the options correctly (such as HMI reachable and HMI accessible). If the connection is password-protected, have you correctly inputted the password in the connection settings?
Hello everyone, I am currently working on transferring data blocks from my safety PLC to the WinCC SCADA tag management system. While I have successfully transferred the I/O from the cards, I am now in need of transferring the data blocks. Do you have any suggestions or ideas on how to accomplish this task? Thank you in advance for your help.
The ability to browse PLC variables online and select specific ones depends on the version of WinCC you are using. Versions 7.3 and above should allow you to easily access and manipulate PLC variables as needed.
Inquiring about WinCC compatibility with different versions? With WinCC version 7.5 and a PLC CPU1517TF-3 PN/DB, transferring IO from cards is smooth, but DataBlocks are not transferring. After downloading the project to an S71200 (not safety), the datablocks were visible. Could there be a security setting causing this issue?
