In order to carry out this project, we invested in a software package that grants me access to Studio 5000 Lite v33.02. Yet, I am encountering difficulties in modifying the HMI screens and uploading the HMI program onto the touchscreen, as it does not appear in Studio 5000. I have been advised to utilize FactoryTalk View Studio. My inquiry is regarding the various Allen Bradley programs and their functionalities. During my online exploration to kickstart this project, I have come across references to Studio 5000 (which I possess), LogixDesigner, RsLogix5000, RsLinx, FactoryTalk View Studio, and other programs in instructional materials. I have not been able to find a comprehensive guide that elucidates the roles of these software tools, their interactions, and the essential components needed to make my PLC + HMI system operational. As per my current understanding, Studio 5000 is the updated version of RsLogix5000, housing LogixDesigner for PLC code/ladder logic editing. I assume that I will require FactoryTalk View Studio to visualize the HMI screen elements from the provided ACD file, although I am uncertain. The convoluted and inadequately explained array of Allen Bradley software has left me perplexed, prompting me to ponder on the absence of an all-in-one program. I was told by a colleague at another facility that he was able to configure the same HMI using different software that does not include FactoryTalk View Studio.
