Are you aware of the number of connections supported by a 1769-L36ERM Compactlogix? I currently have one connected to an Ignition SCADA system operating on a virtual machine on our company's server. As a newcomer to Ignition, I have been utilizing the tutorials available on Inductive University. I have successfully downloaded and installed all necessary components on my PC to serve as a gateway. After connecting my computer's gateway to the PLC and creating a DINT type tag, I am able to view this tag in the OPC browser within designer on both the VM facility project and my computer's gateway. However, while I can see it in the facility's tag browser, I encounter an unknown quality issue in my PC project. Ignition's service department suggested checking for any limitations on the PLC side, but I believe the connections are not the issue as they show as connected in the OPC configuration. Any recommendations or advice on this matter would be greatly appreciated.
Easily connect up to 256 devices with Rockwell's controller selection guide.
According to the Controller specifications, all CompactLogix 5370 controllers are equipped to handle 256 CIPâ„¢ connections and 120 TCP/IP connections. This means that these controllers can effectively manage a large number of network connections for seamless communication and operation.
I had a feeling that was the case, so that rules that out as the issue. Does anyone have any other suggestions?
To monitor the status of your controller, access its web page via a web browser. Check the diagnostics section to view active connections and other important details. Pay close attention to the connections and Ethernet statistics as they may reveal valuable insights. Make sure to note the IP address for your Ignition system, as IP settings in virtual machines (VMs) are often prone to misconfiguration.
While this thread may be older, there is still a question about whether a PLC can monitor "active connections" and store this data in a data-tag. Additionally, can the PLC reset these connections to remove any that are incorrectly marked as active?
