Upgrading 5069-ob16/a Module to Series B: Finding and Placing EDS File

Question:

I am attempting to upgrade a 5069-ob16/a to series b, but I am having trouble locating the necessary EDS file and placing it correctly. I am able to extract the EDS file from RSLinx, but I am unsure of where to insert it. Your guidance would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

I have noticed the issue in module discovery, however, there is limited action I can take to address it.

If you need to make changes in rslogix, you will need to update the definition offline and then download it. In some cases, certain modules may still operate if electronic keying is disabled, but this is not guaranteed. EDS is responsible for displaying module identity in RSlinx. To add or modify a module definition in RSLogix, you must use the AOP or add-on profile. The AOP can be found in the following directory: OS x86 - C:\Program Files\Rockwell Software\RSLogix 5000\Module Profiles.

I am currently utilizing RSLogix5000 v32.011 software on a PLC 5069-l320ers2.

As mentioned by jimbom, I am currently using RSLogix5000 version 32.011 on a PLC 5069-l320ers2 for a Bench test/commissioning phase in the project.

Ensure that you have the latest AOP version installed in order to successfully incorporate the module into your io configuration without the series B option offline.
