Upgrading Encoder from Series A to Series B: 842E-M Encoder Transition

Question:

Hello everyone, I am currently in the process of transitioning from an encoder in series A to a new encoder in series B. However, I have encountered a limitation with the program (Rslogix5000, version 20.06) as it does not offer the option to make this change. The previous encoder utilized series A, while the new one belongs to series B.

Top Replies

To properly configure the 842E series B in an RSLogix 5000 / Studio 5000 project, it is essential to select series A in the I/O Configuration. The Add-On Profile (AOP) version must be at least v2.01.26 and the Electronic Data Sheet (EDS) revision should be 1.03 or higher. Make sure to check that AOP is 2.01.026FW and EDS is at least 1.03 for seamless integration.

Thank you for your feedback. I have successfully installed the encoder and communication is functioning properly. The distance readings are accurate, however, there are velocity spikes throughout the journey. Can you offer any insights into what may be causing this issue?
