I am currently taking over a project for a client and have obtained the project files, successfully recovering most of the EDS files. However, I want to know if uploading the changes will have any impact, considering I am still missing two EDS files. This pertains to RSLogix 5000 version 23.

As long as the Module-related tags in the project are properly configured, you should be able to upload and download files without any issues. I recently discovered that uploading without an Electronic Data Sheet (EDS) and then attempting to export to a *.L5K format could lead to complications. Without the EDS, the necessary module structures are missing, making it impossible for the software to create them for the export process. Consequently, when you try to generate a new file from the *.L5K, the module without the EDS will disappear from the I/O tree. Therefore, it’s highly advisable to ensure that you have all the EDS files for your devices installed on your engineering workstation. For me, troubleshooting such issues is an enjoyable way to spend an afternoon, although you may feel differently.
