I remember there being a problem with Studio 5K versions above v32 that I'm supposed to steer clear of. Although I can't quite remember the exact issue, I do recall that they made a significant revision change very rapidly. As I am in the process of upgrading my outdated development station, I have yet to work on any projects using a version above v32. If there is indeed one to avoid, please advise me on which version it is.
A notification was received regarding version V32 and others. For more information, refer to the discussion on Studio 5000 v32 / 5380 v32 Stability. Currently on version V30, I am interested in utilizing the new features in V32, particularly the improved ST debugging capability for better visibility of tag values in my ST code. It appears that Studio V32 cannot be used with V30 firmware, which is disappointing. Despite this limitation, I have successfully used V32.04 with a CompactLogix L320 without any problems. Visit www.plctalk.net for more details.
For over a year, my top two clients have been utilizing version 32.04 without any problems. I have also successfully implemented versions 33, 34, and most recently 35 without any issues. I consistently update with the monthly patch roll-up provided by RA.
I can't help but wonder what's on my mind right now. Perhaps it's the latest patch rollup for Windows 10. Do you receive notifications for this update or do you need to manually check for it each month? I believe they changed the mnemonics in version 34, and it's driving me crazy trying to remember them.
If you were one of the early users who downloaded the initial version of 33.00.00, which was quickly removed from the site, you may have experienced significant controller malfunctions. Fortunately, RA promptly released version 33.00.01 to address these issues. It seems like there may have been a mistake in uploading the wrong build. Many users missed out on the chance to download this version before it was taken down.
Throughout the history of Logix, I have found the best success with versions 20.04, 28 (the latest version), 32.04, and 34 (the latest version). Version 21 was particularly problematic, especially during the transition from .03 to .04 and in terms of compatibility.
I must be thinking of 21 years old.
If you're searching for information on the Stuxnet reaction panic versions 21.01 and 21.02, commonly referred to as a major headache, you're in the right place.
TheWaterboy pondered the patch rollup for the 20-something version, wondering if notifications are sent out or if manual searches are necessary every month. Is the switch in mnemonics seen in v34, causing a potential headache? I personally make a monthly check for the roll-up, with mnemonic alterations starting from v36.
I'm already feeling the strain on my brain from all the mnemonic changes, it's messing with my muscle memory typing skills.
I concur that adapting to this change will require some time. The majority of my tasks revolve around V24 - V32, so transitioning to V36 will undoubtedly pose challenges and may feel like a daunting task.
Both Version 20 and Version 21 experienced the .03 issue, but it was handled more effectively in Version 20. I used Version 21 for a significant period and found it to be satisfactory. However, I eventually switched to Version 28, which I still frequently use due to its popularity among my customers. I am accustomed to the GUI of earlier versions before Version 31 and am adjusting to the new interface. It is essential to always update to the latest revision for optimal performance.
In the twenty-seventh installment...
