During a project, we had a drive installed to run a fan. The factory default settings for motor protection were significantly higher than the motor nameplate. This led to two motors smoking when crud built up in the duct, causing the fan to rub against the sides. It wasn't until someone checked the drive settings and properly set the FLA/OL settings that we were able to prevent further damage. It's likely that you may also have a similar issue with your drive settings, although I am not familiar with your specific drive model.

It's interesting that the KEB H6-10H6BBBB-21B0 VFD isn't tripping under elevated current levels, as that could definitely point to a configuration or calibration issue. Have you checked the current settings and protection parameters in the drive’s software? Sometimes, the overload settings might be too high or the trip thresholds not calibrated for your specific application. Additionally, make sure the motor parameters are correctly set in the VFD, as those can influence the protection mechanisms too. If all else fails, it might be worth reaching out to KEB’s support for their insights!
